Where Columbia Plays

Janson Park & Foundation

Serving Columbia, PA for 100+ years

2023-2025

Getting A Facelift

The Janson Foundation has received a $116,500 state grant to replace the old playground with a bigger and better playground to serve the next generation of children who like to get outside and play. The new playground will include separate play areas, one for children ages 2 to 5 and the other for children ages 6 to 12.
A brick plaza will separate the two playlots where parents and caregivers can relax on a bench while the kids burn off some energy with their friends.

We asked 4th graders at Park Elementary School what features they wanted at the new playground. Swings were their No. 1 choice, as there are no swings at any of the parks or school playgrounds. So there will be swings, along with climbing structures and spin-around features at the new playground. There will also be slides and other fun features to bring smiles and laughter to kids and their families.

To make all of this a reality, we need your support to raise $120,000 to match the state grant and break ground on the playground in 2025.

The Janson Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable, education, and scientific purposes, including the maintenance of Janson Park in Columbia Borough, and the expenditures which will enlarge its usefulness and increase its benefits to the Columbia community.
